What is Birth Control?

History
The earliest known forms of birth control date back around 3000 to 1500 BC, including the use of lint, gum, honey, and withdrawal methods. Most of these materials and techniques were either unsafe or ineffective. It was not until the 1972 Supreme Court case, Baird v. Eisenstadt, that extended the right to utilize birth control to all citizens, regardless of marital status. From that legal victory up until today, introductions, modifications, and improvements to contraceptive methods were made. True equal access to birth control was ensured under the Affordable Care Act of 2010, which “ established that all contraception methods should be available at no cost to women,” removing many of the previous restrictions.
